Google's agentic hotel booking test lands at the GDS layer with Amadeus and Sabre in tow, Expedia's AI reorganisation costs eight senior leaders their seats, a $300m experience fund opens up and a run of leadership chairs change hands from Sabre to Generator.
Google's agentic booking test reaches the GDS
Google's live agentic hotel-booking test now extends to the GDS layer, with Amadeus named as the first infrastructure partner and Sabre supporting the same capability. The route lets independent hotels surface in agentic workflows without relying solely on OTAs — a meaningful shift in who controls discovery as AI assistants move into the booking path.
Expedia thins the top as it reorganises around AI
Expedia Group is eliminating at least eight senior roles as it restructures into smaller AI-focused squads, with SVP of book-to-trip technology Sachin Singh the most senior departure. Sara Beckmann, Ian Butcher, Matt Esler, Amitabh Ghosh, Emil Riccardi, Fiona Stevenson and Shao Xie are also out — a clear signal of how the AI shift is reshaping org charts at the top.
EMERGING and Promethean open a $300m experience fund
The Experience Fund (XPR), backed by EMERGING and Promethean Investments, launched with $300m and a $500m hard cap to invest in AI, IP-holding companies and automation platforms built for hospitality and experiential entertainment. Cheques run from $1–5m access stakes at Series A up to $25–75m for follow-on and consolidation, giving hospitality AI a sizeable pool of specialist capital.
Sabre and Marriott add commercial and AI muscle
Sabre named Niklas Andréen chief commercial officer for airline tech, while Marriott appointed Prachi Priya Managing VP, Enterprise AI & Analytics Products. Both hires point at where the incumbents are placing their bets — airline distribution commercialisation on one side, enterprise AI and analytics on the other.
Generator and RMS reshuffle their leadership
Generator appointed Xavier Mufraggi as chief executive officer, while property management vendor RMS named Rich Steers chief product and technology officer. Apaleo also brought in Connor Neeson to lead growth across the UK and Ireland — steady movement across the hospitality software bench.
CAMO banks $4m for hotel-branded room service
CAMO Hospitality raised a $4m seed round to expand its infrastructure platform for hotel-branded in-room F&B ordering and fulfilment, on the back of reported 200%-plus year-on-year revenue growth. The investor group leans heavily on hotel owners and hospitality operators, several of them already CAMO customers.
Google buys Spirit's data out of bankruptcy
Reports say Google acquired Spirit Airlines' booking curves, pricing models and broader operational and customer data in bankruptcy proceedings for $10m. The purchase underlines how valuable proprietary travel behaviour data has become for model training and product development as agentic booking takes shape.
