Mews goes shopping twice in one week, Expedia thins out its VP ranks in an AI reorg and the major chains all reach for conversational search at once. Plus IBS adds a CRS/PMS/RMS layer, a white-label infrastructure round with a stablecoin twist and a fresh set of leadership chairs.
Mews buys twice, filling the gaps around the PMS
Mews acquired Atomize, a Swedish revenue management provider, and Flexkeeping, a housekeeping and operations platform, in quick succession. The pair extend Mews from core PMS into automated pricing and back-of-house workflow, the two areas most often bolted on by third parties. The consolidation of the operating layer around a single vendor continues.
Expedia clears eight VPs in an AI reorg
At least eight vice presidents and senior vice presidents are leaving Expedia Group, with SVP of book-to-trip technology Sachin Singh the most senior name among them. The departures follow the company's Layla acquisition and signal a reshaping of its senior technology bench rather than a simple headcount trim.
IBS Software adds a hospitality stack for $90M
IBS Software agreed to acquire Above Property Services for $90 million, folding CRS, PMS and RMS capability into its existing booking engine and distribution platform. The deal widens the travel-tech SaaS provider's addressable market well beyond its distribution roots.
The chains all reach for conversational search at once
Hilton launched an AI Planner across Hilton.com and tied it to Google AI Mode, ChatGPT and Claude; IHG rolled out conversational search on its site and app; Marriott introduced Ask Bonvoy; and Radisson worked with Accenture on a ChatGPT app covering more than 1,000 properties. The competitive question has shifted from whether AI search works to who owns the discovery surface before the booking funnel begins.
Entravel raises $7.5M with a settlement-layer plan
White-label travel infrastructure platform Entravel Group secured $7.5 million co-led by Ethereal Ventures and Finality Capital Partners. Beyond scaling the platform and winning larger supplier credit lines, the round funds a stablecoin-enabled settlement layer for B2B travel flows — a rarer bet in the infrastructure tier.
Cloudbeds and Cendyn court the data-visibility crowd
Cloudbeds launched Insights, a reporting and data intelligence product aimed at large groups and multi-property operators, while Cendyn unveiled Wayfinder, a GEO analytics and LLM monitoring tool for tracking brand visibility across models like Gemini and ChatGPT. Both point at the same emerging worry: staying legible to the AI systems that now shape recommendations.
RateGain and CTM settle their top chairs
RateGain appointed Shobana Vinodh Kailash as Chief Human Resources Officer from 25 August, succeeding Sahil Sharma. Separately, Corporate Travel Management confirmed Ana Pedersen as permanent Managing Director and Group CEO after months as acting chief, ending the interim period that began in February.
